Nevzat DOĞAN
Mayor of İzmit

MR. Dr. Doğan was born in Gümüşhane in 1959. He compeleted his primary school education in Turk Pirelli Ortaokulu, secondary school education in İzmit Ortaokulu, high school education in İzmit Lisesi and university education in Hacettepe University in the Faculty of Medicine. He worked in the city of Elazığ in Keban and Ağrı for his compulsory service. He established a functional test laboratory in Keban Health Centre. He become an Pediatrician after having been educated 4 years along in İstanbul Şişli Etfal Hospital. After completing his general conscription in Çorlu Military Hospital, he was appointed to Bolu / Gerede Public Hospital as a Pediatrician . He established Children Care Service in Gerede Public Hospital. After working 3,5 years ,he was appointed to Kocaeli Hospital of Social Security Organization (SSK). He has carried out his head Physician Directorhip , Pediatrician and chairman of the hospital association tasks together. As a result of his succesfull work, the hospital was taken the title of "Baby-Friendly Hospital" given jointly by Health Ministry and World Health Organization (UNICEF) which after those of years only some of the hospitals can receive in Turkey. He was elected the first president of Kocaeli Gümüşhane Foundation in 1998. He also established Konak Medical Center in 2000. He has served as the Chairman of the Board until his membership of Turkish Parliament.

After 16-year governmental official employment, Mr. Doğan resigned frrom his job and become Board Member of the Ak (Justice and Development )Party and taken very active role in Politics. He has been worked for Public Relations Vice President of the AK Party . Mr. Dr. Doğan was elected in 22.term general election 3 November 2002 as a Member of the Parliament of Kocaeli.

Mr.Dr. Doğan also made the duties of Vice Chairman of Health, Family, Work and Social Affairs Commission and Group Chairman of Friendship between Turkey-Indonesia Parliamentary in Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM). He is still executing the task of the Coordination Center of elderly People in AK Party. He is married and has three children. He has good degre of English. Mr.Dr.Doğan was elected in the election of 29 March 2009 as a Mayor of Izmit Municipality.
